Sasa's Sketchbook 3

My painting ended up in the poster for a conference ( Exploring the Potential of Restorative Justice for Sexual Violence ) arranged by University of Leuven in Belgium and European Forum for Restorative Justice. Some stuff I did last week, A2 sheets from different watercolor and cartridge paper blocks. Testing papers and gathering courage to start experimenting with these nice and huge (and expensive) watercolor sheets I just bought.  

My sister stayed in London for 4+ weeks. That was nice but not good for my art practice, especially since she was sleeping in my 'art room'. Now I have my room back so have stayed all day inside today just splashing paint, love it!

Back. Missing my blog friends. So much to catch up...

I have three paintings hanging in a group exhibition in London. At least color wise they go quite well with that exciting work on the left.

I had the opening of my first solo exhibition Shadow Garden yesterday in Gallery Jangva in Helsinki. It was a really nice and lively occasion, thank you all the visitors for coming! And those who didn't make it, the exhibition is open till January 27 :-) More photos of paintings here (before the guests arrived).

...is the sincerest form of flattery? After Rain / 雨后, 2011, 100 x 53 cm, ink and watercolor on xuan paper Yesterday I bumped into an almost exact copy of my painting (above) in an internet art portfolio site. It was a strange feeling...

Gorge / 峡谷, 74 X 46 cm, 2012 (410), ink and mineral color on rice paper Busy busy busy. I have spent a couple of days in Helsinki to plan my exhibition that opens in January in Gallery Jangva . ( Gorge is one of the paintings to be included.) Tomorrow will continue to Beijing to fetch my cat Nunu...

Janus Face, 75 x 45 cm, ink and Chinese watercolor on hand-made xuan paper, 2012 (553) This is one of the paintings I made just before leaving China. The painting itself is now somewhere between Beijing and London as well as most of my art supplies. I miss them, especially after I have seen how much those things cost in UK.
